Banality of Evil

This work examines the power of words and the politics of fear. Populist, right-wing politics succeed by labeling the other as a threat. I use negatively charged words to label innocuous and even beautiful images to brand the mundane as evil. Of course, the language is not immediately apparent, it is hidden in QR Codes, but the effect is apparent. The repeated QR code masks the image like a barrier, keeping it at a safe distance, suggesting a veiled threat. The colors are bright, even nocuous, hinting of danger, reinforcing the peril that some people want us to believe exists.
